The Richard Rodgers Theatre in Broadway is filled with a lot of interesting performances that you will certainly enjoy. However, the one you should really watch if you happen to visit Broadway or the Richard Rodgers Theatre in particular is In the Heights. Directed by Thomas Kail, this Broadway performance is filled with Latin accents and amazing dances, with touches of pop and dance rhythms adding some spices to the mix.

The dances you will see in the show is choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler. He did a fantastic job nonetheless, since there are numerous scenes when you will be caught breathless just because the amazing moves performed by the show’s casts. With Latin or dance backing music, the dances are transformed into the heart and soul of this show.

Set at the Washington Heights in New York, an area where a lot of Dominican-American citizens live, all the main characters are introduced seamlessly at the beginning of this performance. You will be able to get a good understanding of the problems each character is having and will later on be taken to the twists of solving these problems as individuals and as a community.

In the Heights is designed to be light and easy to understand. You will also feel attached to the play itself, mainly thanks to the amazing casts of this show and their spectacular acting – and dancing – skills. It may not be the play you would watch three times in a row, but you will certainly be tempted to watch it again for the second time.

A lot of Broadway plays and performances are touchy and bring up issues that are close to us emotionally. This next play we are about to discuss, the famous Billy Elliot, is a play based on the story of Billy Elliot who simply wants to dance, although the Great Depression and other influential factors around him are pulling him away from his dream. The director of this play, Stephen Daldry, uses a lot of interesting twists that will make audiences – including you and me – asking for more.

It is always difficult to have been denied one’s dream, and Billy Elliot is facing the same conflict. Before you know it, you will be involved in an emotional journey and great story.

If you have experiences with the 1984 Miners’ Strike or the economic downfall of that era, you will be able to easily relate to the story of Billy Elliot. A lot of the issues and conflicts brought up in this play is very close to what most families – or kids – are having in the economic condition we are dealing with today.

Make sure you visit the Imperial Theatre if you want to watch Billy Elliot. Since this is a very popular play and has been performing since November 2008, it would be best to reserve a ticket beforehand. There is a show each day, scheduled at either 2 PM or 7.30 PM, so you will have no trouble at all picking the right day to watch this performance as part of your trip to the Broadway Theatre District.

If you are looking for the best and most entertaining play in Broadway, offering light and easy to follow storyline and funny scenes, then the Rock of Ages is certainly the play for you. Performing at the Brooks Atkinson Theater, Rock of Ages also offers a lot of familiar tunes from the 90s and 2000s; the show is certainly attractive in a lot of ways.

The New York Times described Rock of Ages as “a seriously silly, absurdly enjoyable arena-rock musical”, and they couldn’t be more correct. This Broadway performance is very funny yet elegant, in a way that makes it highly enjoyable. As mentioned earlier, the music and tunes behind this play are quite popular among youngsters, so the show is also perfect for those of you who are in your 20s an 30s.

The main theme behind this show can be summed up as the “good old days”. With 1980s Los Angeles as the main setting, the Sunset Strip to be more specific. This play is also very memorable; the casts and the storyline itself – supported by the popular tunes we all still hear and enjoy every day – make the Rock of Ages linger even after a couple of years.

It would be best to book early if you want to watch the Rock of Ages. Ever since it was first performed in 2009, Rock of Ages has been highly appreciated by Broadway theatre lovers. Writer Chris D’Arienzo and director Kristin Hanggi certainly did a fantastic job with this show.

There are not many Broadway plays that attend to the subject of mental illness. Many that have brought the issue to the theatre usually ended up not being so successful. But that is certainly not the case with Next to Normal, a superb play that will make you laugh in utter joy and cry over the course of the show. It is a fantastic show with amazing emotional contents; prepare for an emotional roller coaster if you are planning on watching this show, and I mean that in a good way.

The story of Next to Normal is about a mother that is seriously depressed. Her mental illness quickly affects her relationship with the rest of the family, creating conflicts and interesting twists along the way. There are times when you will laugh and enjoy the show – almost feeling good too – and there are also times when you are dragged deeper into the emotional aspects of the story, so deep that you feel like you are part of the simple sub-urban family portrayed in the story.

It is director Michael Greif who did a fantastic job with the script. He arranged the plot so perfectly with his gifted mind, enabling the audiences to take part in the show emotionally. It is not surprising at all to see over half of the audiences watching the show leaving the theatre still crying; that’s how fantastic the show is. Visit the Booth Theatre if you want to see Next to Normal and enjoy the show.

There are a lot of Broadway shows that are rated as audiences’ picks, and A Little Night Music is certainly one of them. The unique plot and superb casts make this play very enjoyable nonetheless. There are a lot of interesting aspects that can be discussed about this play, and we are going to look into them in this review.

A Little Night Music is playing at the Walter Kerr Theatre in Broadway. The play was first started in 2009, with Catherine Zeta-Jones and of course Angela Lansbury taking parts in the show. It was a magnificent start for this play, and the show itself quickly caught the attention of many Broadway theatre lovers around the globe.

The story itself is based on a script by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler, written in 1973. It was adapted by Trevor Nunn who is acting as the director for this show. Staged in Sweden during the early 18th century, the story revolves around the romantic lives of five couples including the lawyer Fredrik Egerman and his naïve wife Anne Egerman and the conflict between Desiree Armfeldt and Charlotte Malcolm, Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm’s wife.

It is a sexy and intriguing play to watch, filled with twists and interesting plots you will certainly enjoy. You will also come across a lot of interesting music and tunes that you are familiar with as well as several new tunes that suits this play perfectly. Winning the Outstanding Revival of a Musical in 2010, this play is certainly worth it to watch.

A lot of people visiting the Broadway theater district choose not to watch Mamma Mia! just because they think the show is as bad as the movie; this is a HUGE mistake. Mamma Mia! is a classic example of how a theater show can outdone its movie version by far. It is one of the oldest shows in Broadway and should certainly be in your list of must-watch.

The story of Mamma Mia! revolves around Sophie, a 20-year-old who is bound to get married. The setting is a gorgeous Greek Island, perfect for this type of story. Audiences are taken in a journey to Sophie’s personal life, from the various problems she is having as she gets closer to her wedding date to the conflicts and relationship with other parts of her life.

The show is now playing at the Winter Garden Theatre. It is amazing to know that Mamma Mia! was first performed in 2001 and is still one of the most visited Broadway shows until today. There is no definite closing date yet due to the high number of audiences still coming to see the show, but you should really visit the Winter Garden Theatre and watch the show if you are visiting Broadway soon.

Mamma Mia! is a simple tale of love, laughter and friendship. You will enjoy the show very much and will most likely want to watch the show again for the second – or even the third – time just because it is so enjoyable to watch.
